Have you got to know your neighbours better in recent weeks? At Priors Orchard in Southbourne a number of residents put arrangements in place to make sure that people who needed help would be supported by their neighbours during lockdown. This quote from one of those residents about the community spirit at Priors Orchard says it all.
As you wander through the small estate of Priors Orchard it is great to see neighbours freely chatting together on the pavement and smiles of acknowledgement as you pass each other by. The most important thing that the lockdown has brought to some of us is time – to stop and natter, share the wonderful walks and views that are in the surrounding area and the ability to help and support our neighbours. Bashing saucepans and clapping hands on Thursday was another fun and noisy way of getting together!!. I do hope that the friendliness and charity will stay within the small community we have all managed to build. When social distancing allows it would be great to think that the small groups of neighbours that have come together could join each other for drinks in our gardens or on the lovely green.
