Imelda Staunton has returned to the Festival Theatre as Momma Rose in Gypsy, based on the memoirs of Gypsy Rose Lee. Those who saw her previously at Chichester as Mrs Lovett in Sweeny Todd will not be surprised to learn that her performance is absolutely magnificent. She is supported by a brilliant cast, not least the young actors who play her daughters, Baby June and Louise, as children.
A fabulous evening and one not to be missed.
